Hello everyone. My name is Karen and I am a hoarder.
I have lived in at least 10 homes in my short existence and despite this fact, I’ve managed to accumulate more junk as I’ve gone on. Normal people have a clear out when they move but I just seem to pack everything up and relocate it. Well, that was all very well when I lived with my mum in a large family home, but now that me & Joe have our own little place to call ours, it’s time to get organised and start clearing out.
The number one problem at the minute is storage. We haven’t really got any shelves/cupboards/drawers because we’re still in a building/decorating stage I suppose you could call it, as opposed to the furnishing/unpacking stage.
This is the state of my dressing table at the moment. It’s a disgrace.
There is an even bigger pile of junk next to my side of the bed, but I’m far too embarassed to show you!
This month I’m concentrating on getting our bedroom fully unpacked and finished. So, I’ve bought paint to finish the walls (I’ll do a separate post for this) and I took a trip to IKEA for a small set of drawers for underneath my dressing table to hold stuff like make-up and general toiletries. Currently everything is still in boxes and plastic bags (yes, I’m one of those people who keep plastic bags just in case. Argh I can’t help myself!) but I’m going to be brutal and chuck whatever I don’t need/use. Apparently you are supposed to get rid of anything you haven’t used in six months. I’ll let you know how it goes…
Here’s my mini flatpack adventure – oh yes, I made it myself!
Not bad for £19. Once I’ve finished painting the room – hopefully this week – I’ll show you my bedroom in a more presentable state.
