‘Add to Basket’ – May 2016

‘Add to Basket’ – May 2016

As a bit of an interiors geek, I seem to have accidentally (read: totally on purpose) found my way onto countless mailing lists, and I’m now the proud owner, much to my husband’s dismay, to a nice weighty stash of seasonal catalogues from some of my most favourite brands.

(The pictures are so pretty – I can’t bring myself to bin them!)

Every time I get my hands on a new catalogue, it’s a great chance to sit down with a brew, flick through the pages and just admire. I will fold down the corners when I really like something. And before I know it, half of the pages are creased and I have a virtual wishlist the size of my arm.

So, I’ve decided – just because I can’t buy them all, that doesn’t mean that you lovely lot wouldn’t like to see what funky stuff is out there. Every month I’ll do a Top 5 picks of what I’m adding to my virtual basket from a different brand or store – Introducing my Add to Basket series.

This May, we’ll begin the series with Graham & Green, one of my favourite shops. I’ve never splurged on their products before, although Joe did buy me a set of copper pendant lights for  Christmas which are featured HERE.  But they’re always on my wishlist somewhere. They’ve got some really quirky ideas, and as you’ll see below, they really know how to merge the animal world and interiors today.

Here are my top picks:

1. Hanging Monkey Lamp

Graham and Green Monkey Lamp

Joe and I actually sat down and tried to think of ways we can raise more cash in order to get this in our lounge. We love it that much. By the way, selling my soul if anyone is interested. Very reasonable price…

2. Animal Side Table

Graham and Green Animal Side Table

Side tables don’t live in our home yet. We simply haven’t got to that stage and quite frankly, my toddler would climb it in a heartbeat. But these make me want to whip out the credit card.

3. Dinosaur Lights

Graham and Green Dinosaur Lights

If you’ve known me for all of 5 minutes or more, you’ll probably know I’m a bit dino-mad. And let’s be honest, if you have too many dinosaur accessories in your house, it starts to look a bit like a cheap toy store – even without the kids! I like that these lamps are small, quirky and understated. Need. Them. All.

4. Ostrich Console

Graham and Green Ostrich table

I don’t have much to say about this because I think the picture does all the talking. It’s BADASS and if our hallway had more wallspace, this would be exactly what I’d like to see when I walk in the door.

5. Jetson Chairs

Graham and Green Jetsons Chair

An acual non-animal selection! How freaking cool are these chairs? Really loving the colour combos and I’ve been looking for replacement dining chairs now for 3 years. THREE. Is my search over? Fingers crossed…

What do you think? Like my Top 5? Please tell me I’m not the only one who makes these virtual wishlists from piles of catalogues! Until next month…

  • Guy Wood

1 and 5 for me Karen. The animal side tables are pretty cool too though…

    • Good choices Guy! As soon as I win the lottery, I’ll let you know which one I choose haha x

  • Karen

Those Jetson chairs are DIVINE!! I’d say my love of skulls is on a similar scale to your love of animal based home decor 🙂

    • I share your love of skulls! Had to rein myself in though so my house doesn’t look like a dungeon haha! x

  • Stacey Sheppard

Hmmm I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the animal stuff (that’s putting it nicely). I actually find it a bit creepy. I do make virtual shopping lists though and have a pinterest board where I pin all the products I’m lusting after.

    • Haha they’re not for everyone, that’s for sure! For me, it’s one small way to stop me from having an actual zoo in the house! x

  • Oh those chairs are amazing and I have to say, I’m lusting after that monkey light as well. I adore quirky animal themed products. I just had a look around at the room I’m currently sat in and there’s a white horse, a gold cobra, a Chinese foo dog, a little hedgehog bowl, a set of 3 brass elephants and a ceramic rabbit. Addicted, what? lol Love your selections!! 😉 xx

    • Haha seems like we’re all living in our own version of an interiors zoo, I love it! 🙂 x

  • fabricofmylife

Nothing better than flicking through pretty catalogues planning a few fantasy shopping hauls Karen! These are great picks xx

    • Absolutely! It’s ony of my favourite past-times. So glad it’s not just me 🙂 x

  • Those dinosaur lights are super cute! x

    • Aren’t they just?
      So close to payday…

  • Great idea to do a monthly top 5 picks! I love these, they’re all such fun x

    • Thanks Antonia 🙂 Who to do next month – too much choice! x

  • Haha love this, I’m forever collecting home magazines and then wondering what to do with them all because I can’t bear to be parted from them!! Love your picks, that ostrich console table is epic! Xx

    • Totally the same! So glad I’m not the only one haha x

  • Some really fun picks here, I love the ostrich table, never seen anything like it!

    • Me either – i love that it can go inside or outside too! x

  • So many fun pieces! Love the chairs!

    • Thanks Arianna 🙂 Payday is so close haha

  • Very cool pictures. Very interesting and fun loving post. Loved all the ideas. Cheers!
