Lately, Joe and I have spent a lot of time wandering around home stores on evenings and weekends, and with the sales on, we thought it’d be a good opportunity to buy a few new additions! Here is what we’ve bought in the past month:
Actually not in the sale, but I went embarrassingly giddy when I saw it in Wilkinsons for only £6. I’ve used it as a ‘decoration pillow’ (is that a thing?) on our bed. Seriously, I need to quit it with the moustache memorabilia or our house is going to look like it needs a right good shave when we’ve finished decorating.
Admittedly not the most exciting purchase we’ll ever make, but the bathroom really needed something to give it a lift, and as I mentioned in a previous Wishlist, I wanted something decorative for the windowsill. This is the perfect colour to match our towels and we got the bowl and pot pourri for less than a fiver (also Wilko’s) which I don’t think is bad at all.
We need more pictures in the house. Really we do. And the walls look bare without them in my opinion. So, this multi photo frame which holds 12 pictures, will go perfectly in our bedroom and was reduced to £4.99 from £19.99 in Dunelm Mill – Considering we spent £30 for almost the exact same frame (except in brown) for the lounge, I think that’s a bargain. The fact that it’s in green to match our bedroom is a bonus. Can’t wait to pick some photographs for it.
Another for the bathroom, and another from my previous wishlist! (See, we do get around to buying the stuff eventually!) We have so many towels, you’d think we were running a hotel. At the minute they’re stored on my side of the wardrobe to stop me from hoarding clothes (*insert sad face*) but it’s nice to get our “special” towels out on show – and out of the wardrobe! The only towel racks we liked were in excess of £60 which I thought was ridiculous, but this one from Next at only £30 was much more what we were after. You want a before and after? Oh go on then…
We also bought a gorgeous glass drinks dispenser from Next for when we have a family BBQ this month – I’m planning on making some killer punch! The only problem is, Joe has stored it so well in the house, I can’t find it to take a picture. Oops! And we got 2 washing lines and 2 boxes of pegs from Ikea (I’m determined to do something in the sunshine this Summer, even if it is the laundry!) but I don’t think anyone needs a picture of that. With the big kitchen project being planned, we’ve put off most other ‘major’ projects temporarily so it was lovely to take a stroll at the weekend, rather than working out finances or doing DIY, to just chill and have a laugh. Joe tried every item out in all the stores, and we had a right good giggle. He almost broke a garden chair in Next which took 2 assistants to help him sit in it, and we found some oversized pegs (which I can only assume are for decorative purposes) that Joe felt essential to use as facial jewelry. All in all, it was a great few days.
What do you think? Did anyone else get any good buys in the sales?
